Since the launch of innovation initiatives in 2000, Wipro had
emerged as one of the strongest players in the Information Technology (IT)
industry. The company offered a comprehensive portfolio of products based on
innovative solutions.
Innovation was a prerequisite at Wipro since it believed that this was essential
to achieve growth and competitive advantage. It was one of the values in Wipro's
promise statement that said, "With utmost respect to human values, we promise to
serve our customers with integrity through innovative, value for money
solutions, by applying thought day after day."6

By 2008, Wipro was able to achieve 10 percent of its revenues from its innovation initiatives because of its constant focus on developing innovative solutions and efforts to nurture a corporate culture which fostered innovation. The company gave a lot of importance to innovation and creativity and made a conscious effort to create and maintain a culture which focused on a diverse range of innovative solutions and the benefits that accrued from it.
According to analysts, the deep-set culture of innovation in Wipro gave it an
